19 of Medvedev's 21 championships have been earned on hard courts

A resurgent the Russian player won his maiden championship for nearly 30 months with victory over Frenchman Moutet in the Almaty Open title decider.

The Russian, a ex- number one, has had a torrid period, winning just one match at the big events and experiencing a setback at the American major.

The player's inconsistency on the tennis tour - and difficulties with his serving in especial - led to him dropping out of the world's top 10 and eventually parting ways with long-term mentor his previous coach.

Now training with his coach and Rohan Goetzke, Medvedev has steadily advanced in the recent weeks - peaking in a closely contested three-set victory over Frenchman Moutet.

This represents his initial title after the Italian tournament and first on a hardcourt after that period of that year.

The win also means he has won 21 titles at 21 various competitions.

"For the first time I am participating in a event with my children together, so to win a championship is really nice," said world number 14 Medvedev.

"This championship is in dedication of my second daughter her name, because the maiden victory I achieved when my first daughter Alisa was delivered was for her."

The athlete, the past champion, had failed in his past six finals, including in that event in the past months.

Medvedev's retrieving approach and recurring outbursts on the tennis court had prompted some to doubt if his ability to perform at the elite level was concluded.

But the athlete has made changes in the past month, making an effort to approach the net and play aggressively, backed up by an improved serving game.

He fought back from a break down in the first set against the difficult Moutet, taking 4 of the last five exchanges to gain the advantage.

The competitors exchanged service breaks in the following set before Moutet, attempting for his initial ATP Tour victory, seized the initiative to create a third set.

The opponent saved four initial opportunities in a competitive third set before the champion won the break to fifteen to close out the victory.

Suitably, the winner secured the win with a shot at the net area, with his opponent failing to control a volley after a lengthy match.
